Integration Post-Apartheid

"History was thus made on 9 January, 1991, when the integration of public schools was initiated through the admission of black students to thirty-three formerly all-white schools. "  - saha.org.za It was four weeks before my fourteenth birthday when South Africa had its first democratic elections in 1994. We were three years into the integration program that opened up interracial mixing at schools. Apart from expensive private schools, government schools were segregated up until January 1991. I am surprised and disappointed that our storytellers have not scripted a movie or a TV series that captures this very dynamic/funny/challenging time in our history. Why Blog?

As a  producer of  creative content, colourful worlds exist in my mind and they usually find a home in songs I write and sometimes record. Through this process I have produced two albums Exemplify & #WozaMoya and a variety of collaborations and I have enjoyed many hours of band rehearsals and live performances.  Daily life is what gives rise to the themes of the different worlds that reside in my mind, And so I find it important to be present to what life presents me with daily. Because whether pleasant or unpleasant, there's value in it all! I take time to live and then contextualize my experiences which form the content and themes for my writing. In the absence of a performance stage and band rehearsals due to the current pandemic, I am working on a series of acapella recordings, using BandLab a mobile app that is essentially a mobile recording studio on my phone.
