MKP vs SABC - THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES
The public broadcaster's mandate is to inform, educate, and entertain the public of South Africa. The SABC News has a public mandate to provide credible news and information.
However, beyond the public that watches SABC News every day, these bulletins get archived and transcribed into the libraries that people in the future, outside today’s context will read, and reference will be made by journalists writing for smaller newspapers. SABC News as a public broadcaster is often referenced as researchers and writers compiling content for history textbooks to be used in schools in the future.
Perhaps the script should be amended to read “The Seventh Administration’s Grand Coalition that identifies as a Government of National Unity..."
The argument here is that the term is inaccurate, whether or not the president chooses to use it, clinically speaking the term does not fit the reality…and the SABC need not perpetuate the misaligned narrative…i.e. the Emperor has no clothes.
It is my opinion that the judge's findings lack foresight, she as well underestimates the impact of the country's education systems 30% pass.
Perhaps it is time for a Black Swan Lie Detector to demonstrate the general impact the misalignment has on the public; go to the rural areas, the city taxi rank, Sandton Mall, a township, and a middle-class high school and find out from street vendors, teachers, students, and the cleaning staff with the question: "The current seventh administration in parliament; is it a GNU or Grand Coalition?"
